in the United States. By U.S. law, it entered the public domain 75 years after

The Notes chapter at the end of the book includes the pronunciation and meanings of
many Japanes words included in the text. The format and organization of this chapter
has been changed slightly from the original, and much of the information has also been
included in footnotes.
