B ROTHER what is that scar above your heart?"

"Brother, the mark of a sword."

"Of whose sword?"

"Brother, of yours."

"Nay!"

"Even so!"

"Brother of my heart, could I wound you thus, and still forget?"

"Yes, since you bear no scar."

"Brother of my soul, could I wound you thus, and go myself unscarred?"

"Verily, yes; since it is not the hilt that wounds."
