About This Text

This text was prepared by Lisa Ripperton, using as copytext, Nursery Tales Told to the Children, by Amy Steedman and illustrated by Paul Woodroffe, London: T.C. & E. C. Jack. Scanning and editing of the text was performed by Phillip Brown who publishes many related books on his Celtic Folklore and Fairy Tales and Fables web sites. With his kind permission, I used his text as the basis for my own.

The exact date of publication is not known, but you can see from an inscription on the title page in the Front Matter, that it was before 1913. Since this book was first published before 1923, it is in the public domain in the United States. By U.S. law, it entered the public domain 75 years after its first publication.

Numerous color illustrations, by Paul Woodroffe, are included in the text.
